SEASPACE 2007 will be the setting for the public debut of Admiral Dingy—a real-life action adventurer of the oceanic type, who, along with his custom-created, “ne'er-will-sink” Dinghy, will splash into the public eye as part of SEASPACE’s Environmental Awareness Area.
Admiral Dingy, whose real name is Daryl Colinot, is a not-so-fictitious character who regularly dresses in 17th Century sailing regalia which he tailors himself. A native of Maine, Colinot (or Admiral Dingy as he prefers to be called), has spent the last six years building his 9-foot 11-inch custom-designed Dinghy which he says cannot and will not sink— “No matter what - my dinghy and I shall always come back up afloat!”
It is aboard his Dinghy that the Admiral will officially kick-off a 14-leg circumnavigation of the world, beginning with a cruise around Galveston Bay in April 2007. The complete voyage, covering between 50,000 and 60,000 nautical miles, is expected to take the 65-year-old Admiral approximately six years. His intention is to sail across the world’s oceans and toward a new world’s record for circumnavigating the globe in the smallest ocean-going ship ever.
The Admiral will regale SEASPACE audiences with discourse about the various non-sink principles that he has applied to the building of his unique watercraft, as well as the importance of protecting the marine environment for future generations. The Admiral’s unique ocean-going Dinghy, not to mention his distinctive personality, will be on display at SEASPACE 2007. To prepare yourself, you are invited to visit http://www.admiraldinghy.com.
