The SEASPACE Environmental Awareness Area features clubs and organizations dedicated to preserving aquatic habitats while educating and entertaining. We provide opportunities for organizations involved with the marine environment to showcase their efforts. This area emphasizes the diving community, educational and environmental concerns and provides a means for organizations to take part in the largest and finest consumer diving show in the country.
We have expanded the awareness venue for children (4-18 years of age) and families through informative programs and interactive games. Our goal is to provide a greater awareness of our marine environment to children who may not have previously been exposed to such information.
SEASPACE will include the "Virtual Dive" which was successfully introduced in 1999. Children 5-12 years of age will submerge into a virtual aquatic environment constructed of an 18'x18' plastic dome. Here they will encounter all sorts of marine life, lead by Junior Dive Masters (Junior High & High school students familiar with marine creatures). This virtual dive will allow them to view marine creatures as divers see them (slides and video projection will be used) and experience a dry virtual dive.

Designed and developed by Richard Carter, John Schroeter, and 30+ friends, Sashimi Tabernacle Choir is an ingenious art car project featuring singing fish, lobsters, crabs and other creatures. A sizable school of mechanized Big Mouth Bass is a featured element. These various choir members are computer controlled, enabling them to perform a chorus of song and synchronized choreography. The Sashimi Tabernacle Choir’s diverse repertoire includes movie melodies, TV show theme songs and popular tunes. An audience favorite in Art Car Parades around the country, you may experience Sashimi Tabernacle Choir first hand at SEASPACE 2007. It will be a highlight in the Kids Place at SEASPACE.
The Kid's Dive Shop is in the Environmental Awareness Area. The Kid's "Dive Shop" was introduced in 2001 and will be bigger and better this year. Upon entering the Exhibit Hall, or in the Environmental Awareness Area, children will be given a "Dive Log" which is used to record their dives. Some of the Dive Sites include the Virtual Scuba Dive, Texas State Aquarium's "Ocean in Motion," "Kids Activities" and various booths in the Environmental Area.
These different Dive Sites will all have "locations" such as "Florida" or "Hawaii." The Kids will get stamps or stickers in their Dive Logs for visiting the various Dive Sites. The number of dives or stamps/stickers will qualify them for different prize categories. The more dives, the better chance for BIG prizes...and more fun for the kids! FREE FOR KIDS.
