Pam Blackledge earned a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology and Environmental Studies from Iowa State University. She has been working with Conserve Our Ocean Legacy campaign since its inception almost 4 years ago after working within the environmental advocacy community for the prior 11 years dealing with issues such as endangered species, clean air and water, forestry management, and others.
Conserve Our Ocean Legacy is focused on educating viewers about the problems of overfishing, bycatch, and habitat destruction in our oceans. Recent studies show at our current rate with our current practices, our world's fisheries will have collapsed by the year 2048. Asking, “What will happen to life as we know it at the grocer, restaurants, beaches, etc.?”

Jeff Bozanic is a Civilian Advisor Diving for the Diving Control Board of the National Park Service. He conducted the training of the Submerged Resources Center divers for these operations, and has been involved in all diving phases of the project since 2003. He is an active instructor and prolific writer, having penned over 150 articles on dive safety. He is the author of Mastering Rebreathers, and the Antarctic Scientific Diving Manual.
Technical Diving in Lake Mead, Nevada - The National Park Service has been documenting sites of cultural significance in Lake Mead, NV/AZ for the last four years. These sites include the aggregate plant used to support the construction of Hoover Dam, a B-29 that crashed in 1948 during a scientific mission and a PBY flying boat. All of the sites are deeper than 150 feet. This seminar will look at the diving techniques used (including rebreathers and heliox), and a pictoral overview of the sites.

David Burroughs is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for International Training, and has been an instructor for TDI (Technical Diving International) since 1994. He has taught technical program all over the world.
Introduction to Technical Diving - Get a first hand look at the general principles of Technical Diving. Educational and equipment requirements to learn and conduct technical dives.
Trimix Diving: How to Get There from Here - This seminar covers the background and history of Trimix diving, educational requirements and equipment. If you are already certified as a technical diver and want the information to take the next step this is your first step.

Jesse Cancelmo's articles and photos have appeared in every major North American dive publication. His extensive photo stock includes the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Red Sea, Micronesia and Indonesia. He has two AquaQuest Publications books to his credit, Diving Cayman Islands and Diving Bermuda (co-authored). His third book, Texas Reefs, is due out in late 2007. Texas' Secret Reefs - 110 miles south of the Texas/Louisiana border hidden beneath the waters of the northwestern Gulf of Mexico lie two tiny marine treasures. The coral reefs capping the East and West Flower Garden Banks are tropical wonderlands resplendent with fish, sponges, and corals. But there are other more secret reefs in the Gulf. Texas' Secret Reefs captures the pristine beauty and magic of the thriving Caribbean-like reefs in our own backyard: EFG, WFG, Stetson, Sonnier and Geyer banks.

Ron Carlo is currently the SouthCentral Regional Manager for International Training, and has been an instructor for SDI/TDI (Scuba Diving International &Technical Diving International) since 1999. He has taught technical and recreational programs to hundreds of divers.
Introduction to Advanced Wreck Diving - This Wreck Diving seminar is for anyone wishing to learn more about, and how to conduct, wreck diving in different environments. It will include information educational requirements and equipment utilization.

Mike Cryer has been diving since 1992. He's a SSI Instructor Trainer, a Platinum Pro 5000 Instructor, a PADI Master Instructor, and a buoyancy instructor at Aquarena Springs. Mike and S.S.I. Advanced OWI Instructor wife Michelle own Hydrosports Scuba at soon-to-open (Spring/Summer 2007) Mammoth Lake in Clute, Texas.
Mammoth Lake is a 55-acre dive park in with an average depth of 40 feet, maximum depth of 65-80 feet, becoming the largest lake in America! Dive sites are theme oriented; NASA, Turtle Crossing, Bermuda Wrecktangle, Mayan Underworld, Lost City of Atlantis, Construction Zone and more. There are 12 training platforms, a full service dive shop, airfills, repairs, handicap ramps and more to discover during this seminar.

Paul Cater Deaton is an award-winning Writer, Producer, Director and Cameraman. Shooting on six continents over the past 29 years, Paul has earned numerous industry awards and worked with such networks and studios as HBO, ESPN, PBS, Bravo, E! Entertainment TV, Tri-Star, Paramount and Warner Bros. He recently produced and directed the highly-acclaimed “Brother” music video for rap artist FP, currently airing on MTV Tempo. Paul and his production company, ISW Media, are based in the Virgin Islands.
Bilikiki Diary - Diving “The Slot” offers unspoiled splendor of the Solomon Islands sailing aboard the 125-foot MV Bilikiki with video and still photographers led by Stan Waterman. Kelly Drinnen became involved with the FGNM Sanctuary through their annual Down Under, Out Yonder program. She later joined the sanctuary team as Education Specialist in August 2004. In addition to conducting workshops and presentations, Kelly is responsible for developing, revising and maintaining many of the communication tools used to share sanctuary information with the public.
Going Deep at the Reef - In recent years, research at the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary has focused on deepwater areas surrounding the banks. There's been exploration through technology such as side-scan sonar and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Join us to learn more about what we've discovered and what lies beneath recreational dive limits.

Shelley DuPuy holds a B.S. in Marine Science from Texas A&M University at Galveston and has over 20 years of experience with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She joined the FGNMS team in 1994 and is the Education and Outreach Coordinator responsible for coordinating all education, outreach, public relations and non-research volunteer activities.

Volun-tourism - Getting wet, making it Meaningful and having Fun! - While eco-tourism has taken off in recent years, the true and unique gem remains what is now called “voluntourism.” Whether a volunteer researcher is on a reef survey project in the Seychelles, or working to understand and protect hawksbill turtles in Australia, there are many exciting ways to experience the beautiful and remote parts of our natural world while doing your part to ensure its there for the next generation.

Davis Graham, a retired Houston firefighter, has been diving since 1974. He's a DAN Instructor Trainer, a PADI Course Director and Emergency First Aid Responder Instructor Trainer. Davis currently works as Staff Course Director for Gigglin' Marlin Divers in Houston, Texas.
DAN 02 Provider Course - As a recreational diver, you can receive training to provide vital first aid that can make a critical difference to a scuba diver with decompression illness. The DAN Oxygen Provider Course provides entry-level training in the recognition and management of possible dive-related injuries using emergency oxygen first aid.

Barry and Ruth Guimbellot are Contributing Editors for “Dive Training” and “Dive Center Business” magazines. Together, they have produced 35 magazine covers. Prior to that, Barry enjoyed 9 first place wins participating in various U.S. photo contests. He is a 15 year reigning President of the Dallas Underwater Photographic Society and a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Mark Janson has been an Open Water Scuba Instructor for 19 years and a Houston Police Officer for 17. Sixteen of the 17 years, Mark has worked on HPD's Dive Team. Officer Janson is currently assigned as a Coordinator for the team.
The Houston Police Department Dive Team (an overview) - A brief history of HPD's dive team and its current composition. We will demonstrate how some of our equipment is used and have samples of items found during recovery.
Search Techniques used by the HPD Dive Team - An introduction to black water search techniques includes a discussion and demonstration of search patterns, use of sector scanner sonar equipment and more. Join us for this in-depth look at how it really works.

Manatees – “Mother and Calf Revisited” - Eighteen months after “The Lost Manatee” (filmed 2005), Scuba Bob revisits the Florida Springs to discover the outcome of the reunion of an injured mother and a lost underweight manatee calf. Explore the social lives of the manatee and discuss how we are key to the gentle giant's future.
Workshop: Face to Face with Sharks, Whales and Turtles

Ken Knezick is owner and President of Island Dreams Travel in Houston, Texas. He has logged more than 3,000 scuba dives and thousands of hours underwater, quite literally around the world. From the Caribbean to the Pacific, his travels include most of the world's great diving destinations. Since 1983, Ken has served as Executive Director of Houston's SEASPACE Exposition. He is past President of Houston International Diver's Club, and is a founding member of both the Houston Underwater Photographic Society, and GREAT, the Gulf Reef Environmental Action Team. At DEMA 2003, Ken was honored with induction into the SSI Platinum Pro 5000 Society. At SEASPACE 2005, Ken was name recipient of the SEASPACE / PADI Project Aware Environmental Awareness Award. An accomplished underwater photographer, when not actually underwater, Ken enjoys writing short stories, travelogues, and presenting seminars and workshops at dive shows around the U.S.A.
Travel Tips for the 21st Century - This one-of-a-kind presentation is based on the knowledge acquired over a lifetime of hard traveling - a crystallization of Ken's more than thirty years of international travel experience. Keeping the message timely, this presentation is continually updated to reflect recent changes in the airport and international travel experience. The audience is invited to learn from Ken's (many) mistakes, resulting in a presentation equally humorous and informative. Audience participation is encouraged throughout, enabling all participants to benefit from their shared experiences.

David Lenderman, a past President of the Houston Underwater Photographic Society, has had his contest winning images appear in publications, advertisements, websites and even billboards. Shooting photos since 1990, David's equipment progressed from simple 35mm film cameras to Nikonos cameras, to housed film SLRS to his current housed digital SLR cameras. Understanding Exposure in Digital Underwater Images - This seminar will take the mystery out of getting proper exposure for both SLR and compact digital cameras. Using sample photos David will break down the relationship between f-stop, shutter speed, ISO and strobe output. He will analyze numerous underwater images and explain the different camera settings used to achieve proper exposure for the particular situation. Examples will include strobe illuminated subjects, natural light images and balancing your strobe with natural light.

Larry McKenna is the Founding Director of the non-profit foundation; Save Our Leatherback Turtles Operation (S.O.L.O.). The Foundation's purpose is to educate and inform you about the severe conservation and environmental crisis existing right now in our oceans. Can the Giant Leatherback Sea Turtle Survive its Rapid Spiral into Extinction? - The Pacific Leatherback Giant Sea Turtle is heading towards immediate extinction as a result of at least 6 separate dangers brought about by human meddling with the ocean balance of nature. The population has been slashed to less than 500 nesting females from a Jurassic (dinosaur) period of over 100 million. Larry will explain what is happening and show a sensible path to become involved to help the species survive.

Bill Merritt is Vice-President of Gigglin' Marlin Divers located in Houston, Texas. He is a PADI Master Instructor with over 20 years of dive training experience. He has logged hundreds of spearfishing dives in the Gulf of Mexico and enjoys sharing his passion for this sport with others. Join Bill in this very informative seminar where he will discuss some of his favorite equipment, techniques, and great spearfishing sites.
Spear Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico - PADI Master Instructor Bill Merritt discusses spearfishing techniques and displays samples of the latest and greatest spearfishing equipment available. Bill will share some of his favorite spearfishing sites as well as furnish great tips for landing the big one.

Pat Miller is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. A computer engineer for more than 16 years, he has worked as a graphics engineering project manager at a major computer company. He has been taking underwater pictures for over 12 years, and has been a member of Houston Underwater Photographic Society (HUPS) for nearly that long. Pat was HUPS Member of the Year in 2002. Underwater Images Basic Digital Editing & Workflow - An overview of workflow including Photoshop demonstrations of some of the primary editing steps: renaming and saving your original images and setting up to edit, the Levels – Histogram tool, the Curves tool, the Color Balance tool, Hue/Saturation, cropping and resizing, Adjustment layers, and finally Sharpening.

Warren Miller was certified in 1979. He is an IANTD Trimix Inspiration Instructor, Inspiration/ Evolution Rebreather Instructor Trainer and TDI Instructor for OC Trimix and SDI/TDI Instructor Trainer up through Inspiration/ Evolution Rebreather. He enjoys teaching and is an avid underwater photographer with a number of published photos. Warren and wife Karla have lived in a houseboat on the St. Lawrence River since 1993 and have a travel business at a local Syracuse dive store.

Technical Closed Circuit Rebreather Diving - We’ll examine the dramatic difference CCR diving can make while doing technical diving. Review the use of mixed gas in a rebreather, using sling cylinders and bailout and more. Help determine if this is a new avenue of adventure for you.

Dr. Donna Shaver is Chief of the Division of Sea Turtle Science and Recovery at Padre Island National Seashore and Texas Coordinator of the Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network. She has conducted sea turtle conservation and research activities in Texas and Mexico for the last 27 years. Her work has been featured on ABC World News Tonight Person of the Week, Dateline, Washington Post, New York Times, and other media outlets.
Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle Restoration on the Texas Coast - After nearly three decades of bi-national, multi-agency efforts, the Kemp's ridley sea turtle population is increasing both in Mexico and the U.S. Kemp's ridley is the world’s most endangered sea turtle species with nesting doubling on the Texas coast every 1-3 years. Most Kemp’s ridley turtles nest in Mexico, but many also return to south Texas, within the historic nesting range for this species. More work is needed to recover the Kemp's ridley population.

Caryn Self-Sullivan is the Principal Investigator of “Manatees and Dolphins of Belize,” an environmental research project supported by volunteers and Earthwatch Institute. A marine scientist associated with Texas A&M University in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, Self-Sullivan is co-founder and President of Sirenian International, Marine Science Advisor to the Hugh Parkey Foundation for Marine Awareness and Education, and Director of Research for Spanish Bay Conservation and Research Center (SBCRC). Self-Sullivan serves on the IUCN Species Survival Commission Sirenia Specialist Group, the Belize National Manatee Working Group, and the Belize Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Her interests include marine science, ethology, and bio-acoustics as they relate to conservation with a focus on marine mammals.
Manatees and Dolphins of Belize – Caryn shares years of research and various initiatives toward environmental sustainability in Belize and the Mesoamerican Reef.

Wolf-eels and Leafy Sea Dragons - Typically found in cold waters of British Columbia and Southern Australia, Wolf-eels and Leafy Sea Dragons are very interesting creatures. Get up close and personal and learn more about their habitat and life cycles.

Jackie & Mary Lou Reid have been diving and doing underwater photography for about 20 years. They have both won International photo contests and have been long time participating members of the Houston Underwater Photographic Society. Jackie and Mary Lou have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and Pacific with a recent focus on Indonesia because of the diversity of subjects and environments. They both shoot Fuji S2 Pro cameras in Seacam Housings.
Diving and Photographing Indonesia-Topside and Below - Jackie and Mary Lou will highlight diving Bali, Kungkungan Bay Resort, Komodo, Raja Ampat, Wakatobi, Alor-Flores as well as share photographic opportunities above the water. They will discuss the equipment used for the photos and includes shots from their February 2007 trip to Raja Ampat.
